The Philadelphia Safer Journalism Project brings together community-rooted storytellers to deliver community journalism and help improve our local storytelling ecosystem overall. We make and operate spaces for news projects, creative nonfiction and media collaborations. We develop editorial standards to reduce media harm, promote care practices in media production, and preserve ancestral newsmaking strategies to address journalism’s coloniality.
We welcome community storytellers to co-work with us or explore the reading room on
Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 pm.
We’re excited to welcome the Philadelphia Safer Journalism Project to Our House for their Residency running through June 21, 2026.
The project supports thoughtful, community centered storytelling and creates space to collaborate and share resources.
We’re grateful to host this important work and look forward to having the Philadelphia Safer Journalism Project in the space over the coming weeks.
Community storytellers are invited to stop by during open office hours:
Wednesdays & Fridays

Founded in 2023, the Our House Residency Program is an affordable flat-rate, short-term rental program designed for creative entrepreneurs, small businesses, and artists looking to test their concept and experience what it’s like to operate from a storefront on a main commercial corridor.
The program has served as an incubator for more than 10 local business owners, providing space to experiment, build visibility, connect with customers, and grow within the Germantown community.
